Tolles Produkt und schnell angekommen

Mon premier "petit" couteau suisse.
Ayant un Huntsman depuis des années, je voulais lui trouver un compagnon plus discret, à oublier au fond de la poche, une sorte de "minimum vital".

La taille ne diminue en rien l'impression de solidité, il est plus épais que le Classic (que j'ai offert à ma moitié) uniquement de l'épaisseur de la lame.

Les tournevis donnent un sentiment de confiance et le fait d'avoir le cruciforme magnétique est un vrai plus.
Les petits ciseaux aussi emblématiques que pratiques sont au rendez-vous et la lame est précise et aiguisée.

Les possibilités de gravure et de personnalisation permettent vraiment d'avoir un exemplaire unique. Je l'ai pris dans le rouge emblématique avec une gravure. Mais les autres couleurs donnent clairement envie. Tout comme la finition Alox coloré mais je voulais garder le cure-dent et la pince.

Das Rambler ist besonders für all jene geeignet, die in enger und eleganter Kleidung unterwegs sind und dabei nicht auf die Fähigkeiten eines Schweizer Taschenmessers verzichten wollen. Die gegenüber dem Classic SD gebotenen Zusatzfunktionen sind den Aufpreis allemal wert. Ich selbst trage das Rambler seit vielen Jahren meist in einer kleinen Ledertasche an meinem Gürtel. Über die Jahre ist man selbst immer mal wieder erstaunt wie nützlich und hilfreich es ist, ein solches Werkzeug nah bei der Hand zu haben. Zudem erstaunt man damit natürlich auch regelmäßig sein Auditorium. Da durch die Möglichkeit der Personalisierung das Werkzeug dem individuellen Geschmack entsprechend konfigurierbar ist, bleiben keine Wünsche offen.

Bought this to convert in to a Syderco Rambler...superb result! 

When SAK Rambler is combined with a Syderco Honey bee blade.  

I then partially serrated the small small blade and then changed the nail file to a pointed one from another SAK.  Then added an additional spring and flamed titanium scales .......sorted!!

Das Rambler ist ein wirklich schönes und kleines Taschenmesser, dass ich jeden empfehlen kann, der immer ein Taschenmesser für "alle Fälle" dabei haben möchte.
Sehr schön finde ich auch die Personalisierung mit individuellen Schalen. Ich habe mich für das Tarnmuster entschieden.
Vielleicht gibt es das Rambler ja noch bei den ALOX-Versionen.
Die Klinge könnte evtl. noch 2mm höher sein, um mehr Stabilität zu bekommen.

Sehr schönes kleines Taschenmesser

I bought this to go on my house keyring, as I found the Hunstman too big for daily carrying.  It has all the features I most often use on a daily basis (tooth pick, scissors, bottle opener, blade) in a small package, plus a nail file.

The bottle opener is a bit tricky to use compared to the traditional one.

Eine äußerst gelungene Kombination von Werkzeugen, (nur) alles wirklich Nötige ist dabei. Deshalb ist es auch nicht so ein dicker Brummer wie das Minichamp (was gefühlt doppelt so dick ist...).  Auch ich wünsche mir (endlich) eine reguläre ALOX-Version, die Victorinox aber leider aus mir völlig unverständlichen Gründen nicht auf den Markt bringen mag. Vielleicht bald? Das wäre dann DAS PERFEKTE Messer für Schlüsselbund o.ä. und sicher ein Verkaufsrenner!

Optimal, kompakt, leider nur Cellidor

Produkt war als Geschenk gedacht und dieses kam sehr gut an. Versand war sehr schnell und zuverlässig und das Produkt kam gut an. 

Die Qualität wirkt sehr hochwertig - anders als bei manchen Nachahmerprodukten. Außerdem kam das Produkt mit einer kleinen Ledertasche an, was mich positiv überrascht hatte, da ich diese nicht mitbestellt hatte und diese im Lieferumfang nicht aufgeführt war. 

Insgesamt ein sehr gutes Produkt mit netter Beigabe. Natürlich ist es etwas teurer als Vergleichbare Produkte - Aber für Qualität zahlt man eben auch ein bisschen. Klare Empfehlung!

Un peuplas que le Classic avec plus d'outils

Man sollte diese kleinen Sackmesser nicht unterschätzen, das sind nicht bloß "Schlüsselanhänger" oder "Damenmesser", sondern vollwertige und vor allem praktische, leichte Sackmesser.

Habe ich seit Jahren an meinem Schlüsselbund. Brauche ich ständig. Klein, aber alles wichtige dran. Mein Drittes jetzt noch mit einer Hülle gegen Kratzer und Beschädigungsgefahr. Die Silikonhülle trägt nicht so auf wie die Lederhülle.

I have owned this knife for over 20 years. I don't recall how it came into my possession, but I think it may have been a promotional handout at some convention I attended. I have this knife attached to my keyring. It goes with me everywhere. I use the knife and scissors almost on a daily basis. Both screwdrivers have come in handy so many times I can't even begin to count. The scales fell off many years ago along with the toothpick and tweezers. Like the gentleman from an earlier review, I wish the Rambler was made in an alox version. I would gladly replace my current Rambler with the alox version as soon as it becomes available.

Just got my new Rambler; I have carried one for at least 15 years. They last about 4 years. It is perfect with a short but effective blade that most security will allow. The Phillips head screwdriver effectively deals with small screws on electronic devices such as battery doors. The scissors stay sharp and quickly clip tags off clothing or trim a stray hair. The nail file on the small flat screwdriver gets used more often than you would expect. Toothpick and tweezers are just the right size. I love it and carry it everywhere. Glad you folks haven’t changed it.

Sometimes, in order to justify the purchase of a swiss army knife, you need to use it. That means it has to be near you, best is in the pocket. Many of the larger models, can be too much for pocket carry, but a small knife like this on the keychain is actually not that bad, it does not make a huge difference. The knife is okay for opening packages. You can cut fingernails with the scissors, although I am not sure if you should.
On the medium size knives I often feel, that the phillips screwdriver is too big, so if you need a smaller screwdriver, this knife could be a nice complementary for the bigger one.
After a couple of years the scales starts to be a bit loose, bot I don't think they will fall off, but the tweezers are also a little bit loose, and I have already lost a toothpick, so pay attention to them (maybe the opening for them could be on the other side, where the keyring is. (Probably this is a manufacturing thing. Other models have the pen and flashlight, and those should be on the opposite site, but still.))
I often meet with sunken smaller screws, that I cannot reach with these screwdrivers (although it is worse at the medium sized models). I think that the narrower part of the end of both screwdriver could be a little bit longer (0.5-1cm), that would be more useful.

Decent small complementary knife

This is a great little pocket tool and a real step up from the Classic SD in terms of utility for not much extra outlay. That magnetic philips screwdriver has been an absolute godsend at times especially in those annoying screw down battery compartments in some kids toys. Crucially my biggest annoyance with the Classic SD is solved too: the blade opens away from the keyring. If they could do an alox scale version this would be perfect. It is a shame they don’t as this would be a much more practical proposition than a more expensive mini champ alox that I considered but could not justify the extra expense. Victorinox product development: I know you listen to customer requests (i.e. Pioneer and Farmer X) so if you are reading: Alox Rambler please.

Best of the Small Knife Range.

This is my favourite small knife in the Victorinox range. The blade and scissors can handle the toughest jobs, and it is always useful to have a couple of screwdrivers to hand. I never leave home without this knife.

I was hoping to find a medium sized Victorinox with Scissors and a nail file without it being too bulky or containing too many tools but after discovering the Rambler, it’s all I needed all along! The tool selection is great for a person who isn’t always needing to fix things but can definitely take something apart or put it back together real quick. Also great for personal grooming if you use the scissors as clippers. All in a package I don’t even notice on my key ring

Terrific SAK, goes with me everywhere

Genau das Richtige für den Hosensack. Alles nötige (Messer, Schere Nagelfeile, Flaschenöffner) ist mit geringstem Gewicht dabei.

Geniales Produkt

Sehr zu empfehlen. Im Gegensatz zum Classic geht hier das Messer vom Ring weg auf. Das erlaubt ein deutlich leichteren/bequemeren Einsatz des Messers ohne ihn vorher vom Schlüsselbund abmachen zu müssen. Für mich der Hauptkaufgrund, auch wen ich für der magnetisch Kreuzschraubendreher sehr dankbar bin.

hier habt ihr alles dabei, was es im alltag braucht.
besonders die schere. zum nägelschneiden verwende ich nur noch diese - seit jahren.
als ergänzung zum classic ist der multifunktionskapselheber spitze! hat mich mit der bierflasche in der hand schon oft gerettet ;)
pinzette und zahnstocher kommen dann und wann immer mal wieder zum einsatz.
kleine bastel- und elektrikerarbeiten lassen sich ebenso ausführen.
tipp: wiedererkennungsnummer gravieren lassen (nicht die adresse - am schlüsselbund - wäre ja für einbrecher zu einfach). ich habe meine bahn-abo-nummer (bei mir SBB, DE zb bahncard) eingravieren lassen (weil ich im ÖV am ehesten etwas verliere) um so die wahrscheinlichkeit zu erhöhen meine schlüssel wieder zu erhalten.
mein rambler hält nun schon etliche jahre. ausser den kratzern von den schlüsseln in der hosentasche, gibt es keine qualitätseinbussen. nichts wackelt und schere und messer schneiden immer noch hervorragend.

Began carrying this as it includes the magnetic screwdriver, and within a week I needed to utilize it.  The Rambler is a nice alternative to the classic sd  and is still very easy to put on a keychain.

Almost perfect

The Rambler/Manager/Midnite Manager series are easily my favorite small-size SAKs. They combine all the most useful tools for light-duty cutting, grooming, and screwdriver capabilities without the added bulk and marginal extra usefulness to me added by the minichamp. The rambler is the smallest, lightest, and least expensive of the three. The addition of the Philips screwdriver/bottle opener over the classic SD "base model" is a major addition for me, and extremely useful. If you would prefer having a ballpoint pen over the toothpick, I would recommend the Manager model, but this is an excellent choice as well.

One of the best keychain tools

Das "Messerchen" habe ich mir für unterwegs in der Natur, oder auf Reisen gekauft.
Ich dachte anfangs…dafür wird es hoffentlich reichen…und hatte doch einige Zweifel.
Nun habe ich mich überzeugt wie vielseitig und toll dieses Rambler-Messer ist.

Perfect Keychain Knife, I wouldn't change a thing about it. Due to its tiny dimensions it also does not seem intimidating to girls at all, yet all the tools provide exceptional functionality.

Ein recht kleines, kompaktes Multitalent. Alle wichtigen Werkzeuge als Techniker für Unterwegs sind dabei. Das Messer ist ziemlich klein, daher passt es sehr gut in jede Hosentasche und kann immer dabei sein.

I have one of these and I also bought one for my girlfriend. Hers clips on to her keys and is her only pocket knife. For me it is the minimalist option. It fits perfectly into the watch pocket of a pair of jeans, and disappears into suit pockets. The blade is small but very sharp. The scissors are surprisingly tough and also easy to sharpen. The file and flat screwdriver work well. The phillips/combo tool is where this option really comes into its own. Compared to the Classic, for a tiny increase in size and weight you get a big increase in utility! The phillips fits a wide variety of sizes of screw. 

If you are looking for a basic minimal everyday carry set up, then one of these plus a nice pen and a small LED light is just perfect. Yes there are the options of manager and midnite manager, but with these you lose tweezers and/or pick, and a full size pen is easier to use every day. The minichamp just has too many superfluous tools for me. 

Sorry to ramble on, but for me this is the best minimalist pocket tool. Most people just want to open packages, cut tape and string, trim their nails, remove stray hairs and splinters, tighten loose screws and make small impromptu repairs. This does all of those things well without weighing you down or taking up space. Buy one!

Minimalist masterpiece

Love it for having a bottle opener is such a tiny package. Also the screwdriver on the bottle opener is perfect size for my car's key fob to change the battery and I even used mine to change hardrives on a laptop. Since it is the most common computer size screw. Even happier when I realized the tiny flat head screw driver on the nail file will work on a regular size phillips in a pinch.

Got this Rambler Victorinox for a blind person. He really liked it. For him it is extremly important that things stay in the same place, and with a Victorinox everything is organized. "I can do my nails now, have a beer and even slice an apple". For him that was a great improvment of life. The red scales makes it easy to find (if you can see) even if it falls into snow, grass or even under water. A great companion to your car keys. In an emergency you can cut your seat belt off!

This is a great tool and I used it every day until had it confiscated at the airport! (why do some allow these and some not?)
The extra tool compared to Classic makes all the difference - bottle opener and handy magnetic Phillips head ideal for changing batteries in kids toys and works on much bigger screws than you'd think.
Wish it had a ruler on the back of the nailfile sometimes like mini-champ.

Nearly the most useful gadget ever

I don't know why this doesn't outsell the Classic. It certainly out performs it with its extra tool. The weight difference is negligible and to me it feels better in the hand. That one tool with the Phillips screwdriver, caplifter, and wire stripper add lots more versatility. Especially for us who wear glasses and work with small electronics. I carry it with my Alox handled knives to fill in the tool gaps.
I really do use this knife throughout the day. It lives on my key chain.

Best friend you'll ever have

This pocket knife has all the tools I find myself to be in need of when in the car, office and in casual outdoor settings. It will fit in virtually any pocket.

My little knife has saved me multiple times: when I needed a bottle opened (bottle opener), a sliver removed (tweezers), a package opened (knife), a jagged finger nail filed (nail file), a piece of food dislodged (toothpick) and also on the occasions I needed a small Phillips head and regular screw driver.

Little Pocket Life Saver

You have to almost know what you are looking for to find this knife - it's just not popularized on the WEB site to do it justice.

This is one of the handiest tools – it’s like American Express for me – never leave home without it. It’s perfect companion is the Photon Micro Light – Google it.

Small enough you can carry it without it feeling like a pocket full and conceal it in a back pocket or sock or hat or – you get the idea – it’s easy enough to hide it and not have it taken – except when going through metal detectors, so don’t do that – it’s cheap also though, so not a tragic loss if you do. Just make a note of the name so you can replace it!

That it has both a Phillips and Flat screwdriver along with scissors, beer opener, file, tweezers, tooth-pick, and wire stripper – and of course a knife! – all of which are handy and incredibly compact is amazing for the size, but the Phillips screwdriver is the star of the show and should probably get some sort of engineering award:

I have disassembled and replaced door knobs with it – installed a ceiling fan – and removed microscopic screws from computers that would not give the time of day to a set of jewelers screwdrivers – and it is magnetic to keep screws from flying away.

A beer opener is also essential in my line of work, or whatever it is I do.

Small size/ large benefits

I don't understand why the Classic is so popular, when the Rambler is basically the same size and has more tools. With the Rambler you get all of the tools on the classic, plus a phillips screwdriver and a bottle opener (plus wire stripper supposedly though I haven't figured out how to use that). I use the bottle opener all the time, I can't imagine having a multi-tool without one. The Rambler, like the Classic, is the perfect size to put on a keychain... you don't even notice it's there until you need it.

Made a small misteake, the same price i would get camper or similar. But. it is small and fit to the pocket.
Great for small jobs: package opening, cutting tepes etc. but too small for other things.
Have two more knives with locked blade. think i need somethin in between to be able to fulfill daily duties.

Sometimes it is not appropriate to carry a full sized SAK and the classic range is perfect for this. I chose the Rambler due to it being simple but having a good selection of blades and it has more than lived up to that. The knife blade is very small but perfect for small jobs such as opening packages and so on. The scissors are also small but again very useful the file is good and the flathead screwdriver on the end of it is very handy. The combination phillips head/bottle opener/wire stripper is really useful. The screw driver is small but it works. The tool is very robust and easily opens bottles. With the toothpick and tweezers it is very useful indeed. If you are looking for simple small SAK then I would recommend this one.

A great small knife.

The rambler has been my utility knife of choice for years. I had one given to me as a gift some 15 years ago. It's features are exactly what you need for the urban environment, it holds a edge for a very long time, it's classic style stands the test of time. This is a very handy knife to carry around for everyone, it's size is perfect for everyday use.

Excellent knife with great features

I have carried a rambler with me for over 20 years now. Unintentionally donated a couple to airport security also. Blade and scissors stay sharp with an occasionally touch up depending on how and how much you use it. Small enough to keep in your pocket without being a nuisance. Have had SAK with both pen and light but prefer tweezers and toothpick. We used these knives as safety awards at a previous company and the recipients always loved them. Won't go wrong with this one.

Das Rambler bietet das Optimum aus Leichtigkeit und Dünne, sowie den praktisch tatsächlich im Alltag wichtigsten Werkzeugen. Getoppt werden, könnte das Rambler allenfalls durch ein dünneres und leichteres, aber gar nicht verfügbares Modell, das nur die Werkzeuge Kapselheber/Kreuzschlitz und Schere, sowie Zahnstocher beinhaltet.

Die kleine Klinge verwende ich praktisch fast ausschließlich für Aufgaben, die auch von der Scherenklinge übernommen werden könnten. Lediglich zum Degustieren, falls man kein Degustiermesser hat, ist sie recht praktisch. Einen Nutzen für die sogenannte Pinzette habe ich in etlichen Jahren nicht gefunden. Bei der Feile bin ich geizig, was die angenommene Abnutzung anbetrifft und verwende sie doch nur im Notfall. Ähnliches würde für einen integrierten Kugelschreiber gelten, der nur die Dicke des Messers steigert. Kurz: Mir ist unklar, warum nicht das Rambler der Top-Seller ist, sondern eher schwer erhältlich.

Bedauerlicherweise ist das Rambler -- ganz im Gegensatz zu den unterschiedlichsten Designs für das plain Classic -- ausschließlich in der Farbe rot erhältlich. Umso erstaunlicher, als ich ursprünglich aus den USA ein schwarzes Rambler hatte, das in Ausführung als Werbegeschenk mit Schalenbedruckung meines dortigen Arbeitgebers ein rotes Classic ersetzte, das ich als Werbegeschenk mit Klingenätzung ebenfalls als Werbegeschenk erhalten hatte. Das Classic hatte es nie tatsächlich in die Hosentasche geschafft. Das Rambler ist unersetzlicher Dauerbegleiter. Der Ring ist eher störend. An der Öse hängt seit Jahren, am Bändchen, ein MicroSD-USB-Adapter.

Leider ist gerade der Kreuzschlitzschraubendreher derartig nachgefragt zur Ausleihe an Dritte, daß das verliehene Rambler im Eifer des Gefechts schnell mal in fremden Hosentaschen verloren geht. Von der Batteriefachdeckelsicherungsschraube bis zu den typischen Computer-Verschraubungen schafft der Kreuzschlitz alles. In L-Stellung mit kräftigem Hebelarm. Bei besonders festsitzenden Schrauben läßt sich unter Einsatz brutaler Gewalt mit dem Hebelarm doch auch die Vernietung des Messers sprengen. Im Schraubstock und mit etwas Sekundenkleber läßt sie sich jedoch wiederherstellen.

Das wahre 'Classic'

La que voy a comprar puede que sea la que hace número 15 de sus fabricados. La llevo siempre colgada en mi llavero. Anteriormente usaba otras menos completas, hasta que descubrí este modelo hace mas de 7 años. Me ha sacado de muchos apuros y es excelente pero, tiene un problema. Opino que los alojamientos para el palillo y la pinza deberían estar en el lado del aro colgador. De hecho, la que llevo ahora, la modifiqué yo mismo desprendiendo las cachas e invirtiendo su posición, asegurándolas mediante una gota de locktite. Desde entonces he dejado de perder palillos. Es decir, en la posición que viene de fábrica el palillo y la pinza quedan hacia abajo al llevarla colgada y caen.

Voy a adquirir la cuarta

Es ist klein und sie kann es bequem am Schlüsselbund tragen.
All ihre kleinen "Notfälle" kann sie damit lösen. Also wenn was an den Nägeln ist, die was zu schneiden hat. Der Flaschenöffner ist auch immer mit dabei.

One of the weaknesses of the Classic is that the hinge for the blade is placed such that the blade opens against one's keys, if the knife is carried there. The Rambler solves that slight oversight by moving the blade hinge to the other side. On this model, the two most commonly used tools, the blade and scissors, open away from the keys.

Additionally, the Rambler adds the outstanding mini combo tool, so this keychain knife can also open a good bottle of Becks or Stiegl. Not satisfied with that alone, the wise engineers at Victorinox also added a #1 Phillips screwdriver head and wire stripper to the tool.

Rounding out the package are the toothpick, tweezers, and nail file with screwdriver tip.

If you are willing to give up the toothpick for a pen, consider the Manager model. If you're willing to give up both the toothpick and tweezers for a flashlight and pen, consider the Midnight Manager.

The only problem with the Rambler here is that it is not as widely available as the Classic. You'll likely have to order this one online. But reading here has at least made you aware enough to do that!

An excellent upgrade to the classic

This is an excellent key chain knife. It's practically the same size as the Classic but the addition of the philips driver/bottle opener makes it infinitely more useful. As mentioned in another review, the knife also opens away from the key loop making handling significantly better than the Classic. It's harder than the Classic to find in stores, but entirely worth the search.

The Rambler's blade will open opposite of the little ring so it's easy to use while attached to your key chain. Also, this is Vic's smallest knife with a cap lifter!

Best SAK for your key chain!

Covers all the little day to day issues: opening mail, toothpick, cutting out a coupon, nail file, etc.
