Très joli modèle, la « serpette » à la place de l’ouvre-boite est une bonne idée à renouveler sur d’autres modèles ; le seul reproche à adresser est l’absence d’anneau à l’une des deux extrémités, mais il s’agit là d’une spécificité du modèle « Swiss Army ».

Presque parfait

I should start by saying I love my huntsman, but this one just feels poorly made in comparison. The saw arrived with metal flakes all over the blade, the main blade arrived fairly dull, the harvesting blade is great, but the rest kinda suck. There are deformations in the metal of every tool that don't exist in my huntsman, I'm unsure why that would be. I like the toolset, but for 60 dollars it's hard to justify such sloppy quality control. Most of it won't affect the function too much, I'll just sharpen it up, but even 6 dollar gas station knives arrive sharp enough to shave most of the time. It's disappointing to require sharpening on a brand new knife especially from a brand I respected so much.

Parfait

Brilliant knife, although the toolset is a little specific for an EDC. I am a keen bowyer and wood carver, and I bought this as a general tool for finer work than was manageable with and axe and larger knife, and having ground the large flat head into a chisel it is perfect for this. As I said, this is a brilliant knife, and with the addition of scissors and a key ring it would be the perfect tool!

And I'm not sure why the SAK widely referred to as a Harvester has been given a nondescript name of "Swiss Army 7" since its tool set (the Farmer with the can opener switched to a hawkbill pruning blade) seems obviously targeted to gardeners or other outside maintenance rather than campers or hikers. The screwdriver is more for opening lids or otherwise being a pry tool here, although you're more likely to get big flat head screws outside I suppose and it can open bottled beer as well as anything.

Besides that, it has what I'm told are the usual features of an alox model (thicker tools, nice snap to the action, space on the reverse for engraving) and this one also has no key ring getting in the way.

What would be helpful would be Victorinox using a better courier. DHL offered no timed slots, no weekend or evening slots, confusing update notifications, and very little advance warning about delivery.

It's a shame these seem to be fairly rare in the UK

Focused on the outside and the garden, a great knife with good feel in the hand, will last for a lifetime, deserves a recommendation, a great working knife cuts the vegetables all day long, very comfortable as no keyring nib.

Je l'ai acheté pour avoir sur moi un couteau qui me permettait de sculpter (des cuillères et cie) quand je suis dans le bois et je ne suis pas déçu. La qualité est là et la petite lame recourbée est parfaite pour cette utilisation. La scie est ultra efficace et il n'est pas rare que je l'utilise même à l'atelier. Le poinçon est aussi très utile et bien fait. Le couteau n'est ni trop lourd ni trop gros.

Fantastisches Produkt

The hawkbill blade completes an outdoor knife. 
     In practice, I always saved the smallest blade in my pocketknives for emergency surgery. 
     In this knife,  the hawkbill, due to its thinness and shape and seems to be a perfect scalpel. The mirror finish makes it easy to sanitize with alcohol. 
     I would guess that the hawkbill would also make a good seatbelt cutter due to its low profile and safer shape. 
     The only blade that seems a bit out of place in this outdoor knife is the screwdriver/bottle opener. I would use this blade for light prying. 
     In all, I am not surprised that this knife has a jewel like finish, both outside as well as inside. Every SAK I owned has this finish.

For anyone wanting a superbly solid, reliable and discrete knife for the garden and general outdoor use, look no further. The beautiful and subtle ALOX scales are comfortable in the hand and are less prone to scratches than plastic scales. Where this knife really wins, however, is in the blade stock; like most of the ALOX family, the Swiss Army 7 blades are markedly thicker and even seem to lock more firmly in to place than other models. The hawksbill pruning blade is super sharp and is used and abused daily. The little saw is surprisingly effective, though I would be more confident in using it (and the awl) if it had a liner lock. I’m not sure of the legalities of locking saw blades in the UK, but I can’t see it being an issue. At only three layers, with all functions on one side, the 7 is pocket perfect. I have found it difficult to find a stock pouch that fits the svelte 7 (most are far too chunky) and I wish that I had the little blank panel on the side engraved. Highly recommended.

A perfect countryside knife

Before stumbling onto the ALOX line of SAK’s I thought all SAK blades were created equal.  Not so.  The scales and main blades, etc. on many of the ALOX models are often significantly heavier stock.  Picking up this number 7 (formerly the Harvester) and the Electrician and your reaction will be, “Now THIS is a knife!”  The super handy pruning blade and the aggressive saw blade are excellent additions to any SAK EDC.  This is a wonderful knife...solid and beautifully finished.  Service from this vendor is also A++.  Could not be more pleased.  If you get this one do consider the “Electrician” which is one layer thinner than this and has the delightful and widely praised sheepsfoot blade instead of the Pruning blade...and no saw.

Practically Perfect

all the features on the knife are awesome and useful. The reamer is really useful and is good at reaming, the pruning blade gets used alot.

This model is an absolutely perfect companion knife for hiking, bushcraft or camping.  Has everything you might need, and nothing you don’t. 

It’s fit and finish is superb, and everything is snappy and tight. The saw is amazing for it’s size, and it reliably cuts larger branches than I thought it would. 

The pruning blade is even more useful than I thought it would be. It’s better for box and letter opening than a straight blade, and is really handy for carving/whittling as well. 

If you are into outdoor activities, I highly recommend this little knife.

I love this knife!

Excellent quality pocket knife, have it on me all the time. It's cut laces off boots, chopped lumps off cheese and jimmied a nail out of my shoe. I have to admit that I miss a lanyard loop but overall its sleek and really handy. Also had a crack at whittling (as per the book) I aint produced anything remarkable but it's nice to fill the time.
