Ich bin mit meinem Compact sehr zufrieden. Ich trage es schon Jahre täglich mit mir und es hat mich noch nie enttäuscht. Ich habe in diesem kleinen Helferinnen alles was ich in meinem urbanen Alttag so brauchen kann. Sehr wichtig für mich ist die Schere und die Klinge mit diesen beiden Werkzeuge konnte ich schon viele Probleme bewältigen. Und in unserer Zeit wo eine richtige Messerphobie herrscht ist dieses kleine Werkzeug am richtigen Ort. Mit diesem machen sie alles richtig.

Das beste EDC- Messer ever!!!

Honestly, it has everything one could need on a day-to-day basis.  I find that of all the SAKs I own, this one makes it into my pocket the most because you get so much in only two layers.  I see this one being another Yeoman in that once it's gone, we'll all be having fits trying to find one.  That's why I'm ordering another, just in case I lose the one I have.

The Almost Perfect EDC SAK

Das Compact ist leicht und inzwischen mein Favorit für den täglichen Gebrauch und fürs Wandern. Mehr brauche ich unterwegs nicht: Messer. Kapselheber. Kleine Stecknadel, Kugelschreiber, Mini Schrauberdreher für Brillenreparatur. Pinzette. Natürlich gibt es billigere Modelle in dieser Größe, aber die Funktionen sind vielfältig und sinnvoll.

Tolles Taschenmesser, einfach Compact

Déjà possesseur de deux couteaux très complets, mais lourds, je cherchais un modèle plus léger à emporter en randonnée. Celui-ci est parfait : les ciseaux étaient importants pour les pansements et les ongles, par exemple, et le tournevis est indispensable pour régler les clips de mes bâtons. Le micro tournevis enfin est très pratique pour resserrer mes montures de lunettes. Tout cela pour 64 grammes. Génial.

Parfait

My two favorite SAKs are the Sportsman, and the climber. I purchased the Compact thinking it would bridge the gap between the two. I think the main tool I wanted was the scissors while keeping the the knife two layered. Mission accomplished on that goal.
But,the nail file on the Compact cannot compare to that of Sportsman, and is not even available on the Climber.
 The Compact does do most of what I need in urban situations and Im guessing thats what it's designed for. 
 I gave this knife four stars because its price is much higher than other models that do more. It is however a very fine knife

Quality knife

Klein, leicht und super handlich. Alle Tools die ich benötige auf sehr kleinem Raum. Ich habe mir das Compact gekauft weil mir so ein wunderbares Messer für meine bedürfnisse alles bietet. Egal ob Camping, Outdoor oder Stadt du hast etwas sehr nützliches dabei. Man kann jedes Tool auch für etwas anderes brauchen und somit ist der Kreativität keine Grenze mehr gesetzt. Es gibt genügend Videos wie man sehr viel rausholt aus diesem Messer ;-) Ich finde es wunderbar und habe meine freude daran es täglich zu benutzen. Begleiter fürs Leben und was noch alles kommen mag.

Excellent compromis entre fonctions utiles, volume et poids dans la poche.

Le couteau de ville par excellence

Sans doute le meilleur rapport qualité/encombrement/fonctionnalités. Le top du top serait de retrouver exactement ce modèle avec les mêmes fonctions en 84mm sur un châssis du type Tinker Small.
Les ciseaux et le combo-tool me servent chacun au moins 1x chaque jour.
La seule petite réserve pourrait être le prix qui reste élevé comparé à un Huntsman ou Explorer mais cet inconvénient est vite gommé par les services rendus et la robustesse de l'outil.

I found this on a camping trip and I did not know what to do with it. I did not notice the multi purpose hook until I watched a YouTube video. This has been my edc for a out 3 months now and I LOVE IT it has everything. I do not like swiss army knives with no scissors so this is perfect. This has been in my pocket everyday science that camping trip. I highly recommend this.

Perfect edc

This one is amazing. It does everything you need, with almost no wasted space. The can opener/bottle opener/flat and Philips screwdriver is a particular highlight even if the wire stripper isn’t much use. Looks great and fits easily in a pocket. No wast of space  2nd blade and the essential scissors. And the full set of mini tools- biro, pin, glasses screwdriver, toothpick and tweezers. 

Even the stupid ‘multi function’ hook has a single use- a hidden nailfile.

In my view at least, this is really the perfect EDC knife.

It's slim, being a two layer knife, and also surprisingly lightweight. You don't really feel it in your pocket, especially if you add a pocket clip to it (Key Smart is my recommendation). It also has the classic SAK look that makes people comfortable when they see you about to use it for something cool.

So,

The knife is classic drop point. Holds an edge well and is easily sharpened.

The combo flathead driver/philips/bottle opener/can opener/wire stripper is a revelation. Highly useful in all but the can opening IMO. The can opener aspect does work, but it's definitely more for emergencies. This complete tool also makes a good littke pry bar.

The scissors are top tier. They are sharp, reasonably big, open up wider than most similar scissors. The also cut the same whether by the tip or fulcrum, and readily cut through slack materials as well. The tension bar probably won't last forever, so having a back up isn't a bad idea.

I've actually used the parcel hook more or less for its intended purpose (firewood instead of newspaper though). I also find the little nail file on the back of the bar to be a daily use item, and the bar itself can actually lock the pen in place, making it easier to write.

I mostly use the corkscrew to loosen knots and to hold the included eyeglass driver along with a tinder twist from Tortoise Gear, which I've also actually used. It's handy. The pin included in the slot under the corkscrew has been useful for removing sim cards and such.

The toothpick I replaced with a ferro rod. 
The tweezers work well.
The pen is maybe a little difficult to manipulate if you don't use the abovementioned trick, but it's quite useful regardless, and a really nice addition overall.

Yeah, I feel confident that I can tackle a lot of day to day things with this one. Lot of utility in a small package. It's my daily carry.

The ideal every day carry knife

The compact is the SmartSAK so to speak, in that it includes most of the functions in other SAKs but in fewer tools. From the combo tool to the plus scales, it really is a great package. I like this SAK so much that I'd like to see an 84mm & an Evolution version.

Einleitend muss ich sagen dass ich den Preis etwas hoch finde. Aber für mich dennoch das beste EDC Messer von Victorinox. Nur das nötigste auf engstem Raum und federleicht.

Seit fast 50 Jahren habe ich immer ein Schweizer Messer bei mir. Immer ist es ein Victorinox. Mittlerweile habe ich 12 Taschenmesser und manchmal kommt noch eins hinzu. Alle Größen sind bei mir vertreten. Das große Hunter gerne für die Jagd. Die übrigen wechseln sich alle paar Tage ab.

Immer eine gute Marke

A la fois compact et complet. Je trouve que c'est vraiment le bon compromis à avoir dans la poche. Même la petite lime à ongle au dos de la tige du crochet m'a été utile, astucieux ! J'apprécie la présence du stylo, et pour ça j'avais choisi au préalable un minichamp2 mais je préfère celui-là car ses outils plus gros sont plus efficaces. Sauf que quand je tapais "stylo" dans le champ de recherche du site de victorinox, le modèle compact n'était pas proposé et donc je n'avais pas conscience qu'il existait, dommage, j'espère que ce sera corrigé.

Quand j'utilise les ciseaux, la lame/ressort s'échappe de l'appui sur la branche mobile. C'est plutôt agaçant!...
  J'ai possédé ce même modèle de couteau pendant + de 20 ans et je n'ai jamais rencontré ce problème.

Very very happy with my purchase. Beautiful quality, precision construction. My first Victorinox is still going strong 40 years on. I'm sure I'll still be using this one in 40 years too.

There is an elegance in it's efficiency.  With the elimination of the small blade, and inclusion of an ingenius multi tool that covers the can opener and bottle opener and screw driver functionality, the Compact offers scissors in a slim two layer knife.  The corner edge of the flat head on the multi-tool works on most philips heads too.  Then throw in the plus scales and you have a pen and standard toothpick and tweezers.  I am glad the traditional cork screw was included over the philips screwdriver going back to the swiss army knife roots.  While I would have preferred the awl over the parcel hook, there is a benefit with the parcel hook as it can be used to hold down the pen in it's groove, making the pen function more practical.  This enables me to use the Compact as a practical pen, and I've written pages with it.  Like the Alox Farmer, if Victorinox could add another layer and include a wood saw, and an awl on the back, it would be perfection.  A 3 layer knife with scissors, wood saw, and awl, would be perfection as an awesome urban + outdoors EDC.  Can maybe call it the Compact Wilderness Adventurer.

I bought one for my grandpa, which is my best friend, who fought in korean war. and one for me. when he passed away, I buried mine and kept his. always carrying this knife.

Polyvalence

The spring of the scissors is weak. It is easily bent after using for just a short period of time and consequently the handles cannot be pushed back after cutting. Besides, the quality of edges of the scissors is poor and can be easily damaged even after cutting a very thin cloth. Even worse, the warranty in Hong Kong does not cover sharpening of the scissors. The Company only asked you to pay HK$240 to replace the scissors. Such charge is just too high because a new knife is sold for HK$420! Disappointed!

Das Compact bietet eine sehr gute, minimale Werkzeugauswahl. Das Combotool, welches Dosen- und Flaschenöffner ersetzt, funktioniert recht gut, wenn auch nicht so perfekt, wie die Standardöffner. Es ist auch recht dünn im Vergleich zu letzteren. Die Nagelfeile auf dem Mehrzweckhaken reicht allenfalls für den Notfall. 
Durch die Abmessungen und das geringe Gewicht ist dies dennoch ein tolles Taschenmesser mit vielfältigen Funktionen.

È il mio preferito perché è quello che porti in tasca tutti i giorni. Viene a lavoro con me e ha tutto il necessario per mangiare e per bere, lama per sbucciare la frutta o aprire i panini, apribottiglie e cavaturaccioli per le bevande col tappo non a vite, apriscatole. Il cacciavite piccolo per na stretta alle viti degli occhiali e la penna che quando sei senza ti ricordi che ne hai una nel coltello! Stuzzicadenti e pinzetta sempre utili e forbici che uso moltissimo per tutto. Unico cosa è che per quanto è compatto poteva essere un po più corto e in tasca stava meglio!

The Compact is truly the best SAK ever made. Main blade, scissors, combo tool, corkscrew, hook (with nail file), toothpick, tweezers, pen, eyeglass repair screwdriver, and pin...all that in a 2-layer SAK! What else can you ask for in an EDC???

Whether you're a collector or simply looking for a great EDC, the Compact is a must have for everyone. It makes a great gift and/or stocking stuffer, too!

I've also lost, destroyed, mis-used and (especially since 9/11) donated many to airlines, because you cannot pocket-carry knives on commercial aircraft anymore.  Period.

Of all the many, I really like the "Compact".  Those scissors are sharp, and having a permanent writing implement in one's pocket comes in handy.

Perfect keychain knife

It’s a very cleverly designed knife. For the size there’s an amazing range of features. The so-called 'useless' hook now has a nail file discreetly incorporated into its vertical, the openers are linked into one and Victorinox include their famous, brilliant, scissors. Tons of goodies. Recommended.

Ich trage es mittlerweile schon lange Jahre als EDC und es hat mich nie im Stich gelassen. Die Schere ist noch sehr scharf, und die Klinge auch (musste ich aber nachschärfen, war aber Dank Vic.-Schärfer keine große Sache). Außer dem kenne ich nur wenige Messer die nach so langem Gebrauch noch kein bisschen "Spiel" an der Klinge und den andere Tools haben.

Das Victorinox Compact ist einfach super für jeden Tag als EDC. 
15 Funktionen auf kleinstem Raum. 
Darunter eine Große Klinge und die sehr nützliche Schere. Außerdem ist der Kugelschreiber sehr häufig im Einsatz. Einfach ein klasse Teil. Ich habe es jeden Tag dabei und sehr oft im Einsatz.

Perfekter täglicher Begleiter

Ich habs mir gekauft, weil ich ein dünnes Messer mit Schere wollte und von den 91mm-Modellen das Compact das einzige Modell war, dass mit Schere ist und nur 2 Lagen hat. 
Warum trotzdem nur 3 Sterne? Einerseits ist der Haken meiner Meinung nach für genau gar nix gut, die Nagelfeile, die am Haken außen angebracht ist, verdient diesen Namen nicht. 
Außerdem ist es preislich durchaus ambitioniert, da kann z.B. ein Climber mehr für weniger Geld (ist aber eben eine Lage dicker).

Gutes Messer

Nice package. The combo tool can actually do Philips (the tip has the good shape). Very good for urban usage.
The hook appears more useful than the awl (and the tip of the scissors blade can be used to make holes as a backup if needed).

Also, one interesting thing with the hook, when fully opened and used to fish something with a string attached to the ring, deploying the combo tool at 90 degrees and wrapping the string around it makes the hook lie down almost vertically. Not sure if intended, but really useful.

Lots a functions for its size

I've had this knife for over 10 years now and it is in my pocket every day, wherever I go as it is so compact and useful.  I use it almost daily either in the office or when out walking in the hills and feel lost without it.  It is almost the perfect combination of useful tools apart from the Hook which I  have never used and cannot see any reason why I ever shall.  If Victorinox would replace the Hook with either the Awl, Philips Screwdriver or Nail File, they would have a world-beating best seller.  I seems like I am not the only person who thinks this so go on Victorinox why not produce a special edition and see how it sells?

Almost perfect apart from the useless Hook

In many ways this is the perfect combination of tools except for the multi purpose hook which Victorinox now seem to be including on every tool.
I don’t need this instrument and would much prefer to see the awl on the Compact. This would then be a perfect choice when I don’t want to carry the heavier and slightly bulkier Huntsman (which would also be better without the hook)

I’ve never felt the need for a multi purpose hook

This model gets a ton of things right, but fell short for me in the long run. The slim size and the added pen, pin, and the mini-screwdriver in the corkscrew are great additions. The nail file on the back of the parcel hook is a brilliant bit of added usefulness, and I honestly wish they would make that feature standard on all models with the hook. The combo tool is a mixed blessing in that, while not having a dedicated can opener is not a major issue to me, losing the small screwdriver tip on the end of the can opener is a major loss, since it is sized well for both Philips and flat-head screws. This leaves the compact with extremely limited usefulness for turning screws.  I would still recommend this over the Spartan or Climber due to the smaller size and the scissors, but I really wish Vic made a version with some kind of added screwdriver capability, either with a model with the T-handle Philips (fun fact, you can sometimes use the tweezers to turn eyeglass screws in a pinch), or even better, re-releasing the 3-layer Yoeman model with the in-line Philips and magnifier without sacrificing the corkscrew and mini-screwdriver. Until then, I'm stuck with either a tiny 58mm Manager model or jumping all the way to a hefty 4-layer Explorer model.

Das Victorinox-Compact ist mein absolut liebstes EDC-Messer. Alles dran, was man so braucht - vor allem auch die Schere. Nicht zu groß, nicht zu schwer (2-Lagen in der 91mm-Klasse). Perfekt für den Alltag - mitnehmen!

Mein Tipp als EDC

This is a lovely knife. It’s somehow much smaller and lighter than the toolkit suggests. The ‘plus’ configuration adds a useful little pen and stainless steel pin to the usual assortment of accessories, although it’s about time that the toothpick was updated from the horrible yellow-ish white plastic (which looks terrible with white scales by the way). Despite several on-line reviews to the contrary, I find the hook really useful - spring pulling, twisting lockwire, etc. A Phillips screwdriver would be the only addition I would seek. Otherwise highly recommended.

Small, light and multi-talented

A little bit expensive for a two-layer knife, but it's light and just right to keep in a day-rucksack.  The scissors complete a first-aid kit, and the knife and corkscrew are enough to prepare lunch on the hillside.

One to keep in your rucksack

For minimal E.D.C carry this is the smallest pocket knife with full size scissors. I used to carry a manager for those times when I wanted the smallest possible tool, for example in a city while wearing a suit. The manager is a great knife, but as I get older I find it getting to be a bit too small to manipulate with my fingers. This is where the compact shines as it is a very slim knife but fill sized and so is easy on the hands.

Super slim choice for E.D.C.

Ce couteau 2 couches regroupe tous les outils essentiels au quotidien pour les urbains. Grande lame, ciseaux, combo décapsuleur - tournevis plat, poinçon, crochet avec la lime au dos. Tous ce qu’il faut en si peu de place. 
Il se fait oublier au fond de la poche mais rend des services tous les jours.

L’EDC urbain par excellence

This knife really does what it says on the tin. It has a lot of tools compressed in to a slim package. I have been carrying it for a few months now, and it has held up to everyday use very well. 

The blade is, in my opinion, the perfect size. I use the scissors all the time, and in fact they are my main requirement. The combo tool, which acts as a bottle opener, can opener and flat screwdriver is excellent, and allows the knife to be thinner compared to the standard separate bottle and can openers which add a layer. The scale tools are always handy. The hook gets a bad rep and although I very rarely use it as a hook, I see it as a file which can angle away from the body of the knife, and a slot for holding the spare pen. 

The cork screw irritates me. I know a lot of people love them and use them, but for me this is not something I need every day. The phillips head driver would be far more useful here. This is my main and only complaint, as in a pocket knife so well suited to everyday carry and use, this is the only superfluous tool. The combo tool can be used to jemmy some sizes of phillips by inserting it an angle, but it is hardly an ideal solution. In the rest of the range there is a choice between similar models with either phillips or corkscrew; Spartan vs tinker, Huntsman vs Fieldmaster etc, but this one doesn't have a counterpart. 

It is also expensive for what it is. Compare the price to the Spartan or Tinker, or even to some of the three layer models like the Climber. I am not really sure why. 

I keep a pliers-based multi tool in my car, and when I am going hiking/hunting etc I carry a different knife (with a locking blade and a saw). For general day to day use in a home or work environment, this is the best option from Victorinox for me. If you want a slim pocket knife with a decent blade and a very good pair of scissors, then this model may suit you.

Léger et pratique

The compact might be the perfect pocket tool for Urban/City carry. Most people living in larger cities won’t need a dedicated can opener and would be within reach of a dedicated screwdriver. The combo tool handles all of those jobs adequately in a pinch. It won’t let you down (and I’ve also used it on Phillips). In a city environment you’ll prob use the scissors more than the knife and it helps that these are he larger scissors. It’s two layers so it’s thin and has a more than adequate nail file which will get used surprisingly often. Also, don’t forget the pen which is also an added bonus. If you are going camping take a different knife, but If you live in the city this knife will cover most of your needs.

Light, useful. It’s a great urban knife. Nothing I don’t use. The pen, the jewellers screwdriver. The pin has been handy, let alone the blade, the hook, the scissors and the Cap lifter/screwdriver etc

If you spend more time in an urban environment this may be the one.

Possibly the best sak

I acquired this knife through a trade a few weeks back, and it has almost completely taken over as my daily carry Swiss Army Knife. For general purpose around town and around the house, this is the ultimate knife. The only time I wouldn't carry this knife is when I'm out in the woods, as I prefer to have a knife with a saw handy. Great job Victorinox!

Great knife!

I bought the Compact because, you know, a Swiss Army Knife fan/user/collector just has to have it, right? Well, after already owning and using the Classic SD, Sportsman, Huntsman, Recruit, Mechanic and Spartan, I was curious to try this two layered wonder. Actually, it was originally intended as a Christmas gift for my wife, but she hinted post-purchase that she didn't want one. But, I digress. It stayed in the family, proudly hung with the rest of my Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, (SAK's), but never really got any pocket time. I was scared I'd miss the can opener/screwdriver and the awl/reamer/punch, mostly. So, as a challenge to myself, I started to carry it everyday unless I needed more/different tools for specific tasks or outdoor use. My fears seem to be going unfounded, so far. The addition of the plus tools is great. The combo tool replaces the cap lifter and can opener, with their related built-in functions, and does a pretty decent job for being tasked with so many expectations. I eat canned foods every day, and my SAK is my main can opener, at home, work and in the wilderness. The combo tool is a bit different, going in the opposite direction, and a slight bit more messy, but it works. The standard large blade and scissors work as admirably as on my other SAK's, and the hook has the added feature of a nail file! The pen is great when you need it. Most of my pants have a dedicated SAK pocket, but the ones that don't, I put the Compact in my back pocket, and it carries perfectly for me. Yes, I'm really starting to like my Compact. Working in a retail clothing store and warehousing, it's great to help me out day to day. Ingenious little tool. But, I've come to always expect that from Victorinox.

It's growing on me.

For me, this is just the perfect pocket knife! Slim enough to fit in any pocket and yet it still contains every tool you'll ever need. I have given this knife as a personal thank-you gift to friends for many years and they all swear by it and proudly bring it out of their pockets when we meet. The small screwdriver is perfect for tightening the arms of your glasses. The corkscrew easily overpowers even the most stubborn cork. The knife blade holds its edge forever. The scissors are perfect for paper, cloth and fingernails and the bottle-opener, come screwdriver,  come can-opener is simply indispensable; you can even use it to open doors that require a square-shank key.  Even my Swiss friends are impressed with the versatility of this knife.

It's simply the best!

I have a lot of Vics: rembler, hunstman, evolution s 14, etc, all of them working perfectly. 
This particular knife is highly recommendable: high quality and light weight makes it easy to carry. 
I miss a Philips screwdriver, this is the reason I don´t give it 5 stars

A mio avviso il migliore victorinox della mia collezione. Appezzo molto il fatto che sia solo due livelli perciò molto compatto. L'attrezzo multi funzione va benissimo: l'ho usato con viti a taglio e a croce e come apribottiglie (non ho mai provato ad aprire una scatoletta o a spelare un filo). Trovo molto comodo il cavaturaccioli, mi è capitato più di una volta di trovarmi con amici, con bottiglie di vino ma senza cavatappi... salvati dal "compact" e poi lo uso spesso per allentare nodi. Del gancio apprezzo il fatto che tiene in posizione la penna e la limetta per le unghie che è un po' sottile ma funziona comunque. E' il mio primo SAK con forbici grandi e le sto usando più della lama. Ottimo coltellino, mi piacerebbe se fosse disponibile nella misura 84mm sarebbe ancora più portabile.

I've carried this multitool on me exclusively for 365 days. I can honestly give it a reasonable review of edc (everyday carry). Keep in mind that I'm a family man, Tenkara fly fisherman, a window cleaning technician and a little of everything else in between. First thing I was looking for was a fashionable gentleman's multitool. One that I could use for casual, dress and suit carry. It had to be slim and lightweight. Something that wasn't scary looking to the general public, family friendly looking. I've researched a lot of companies and chose the compact because of the already must haves listed above, plus it came in black which I thought was classy. So now I have a classy fashionable gentleman's multitool that I can use for casual, dress and suit carry. Its slim, lightweight and functional.

Ok, let's start with the large blade. It is very sharp when received by mail. To sharpen, I use a popular $10-$15 V sharpener. It's easy to sharpen and holds edge well enough for my daily task I tackle. This knife is my go to paring knife in the kitchen. It is phenomenal to use for food prep. I've used it for fruits, vegetables, meat and just about anything you can think of in the kitchen. It's handled my every day task that I've encountered. Sharpening pencils, open envolopes, cut soft water hoses, carving, opening all types of packages, gutting trout, and etc.

The combo tool works well for opening can goods, bottled beverages, flat head screws, light prying, 90 degree combo tool half stop for cutting wire insulation, a little extra torque on a screw, some philips with the designated flat head, also you may use corner tip of combo tool for most different size philip screws I've encountered for tightening/loosening screws. I have not used the wire stripper yet, but I'm sure it will not disappoint me due to the success I've had with this multitool and experiences with other multitool wire strippers.

Scissors, what can I say. "Superior!" I've used these for cloth threads, trim fly hackle, grooming, fishing line, paracord, paper, light zip ties, insulated bubble packaging, finger nails, office task, and etc. They are still sharp and cut like they are new and precise. The tip of scissors closed also fit some philip heads, (not recommended) I do not want to use to find out the aftermath of my scissors.

I use toothpick daily, still functional and great to use. Tweezers I've used to pick up micro screws and with the help of the pin, removed slivers from my hand. The mini screw driver I haven't used in the U.S.. All micro screws I've encountered were philips. Again, I'm sure it does what it's meant for. Pen writes, I wash multitool all the time with dish soap and submerged in water while pen is inside scales. Pen still works. I carry a designated pen on me all the time, so the pen in scales is a back up for me (not meant for letter writing). May use pen under closed multi hook for more handle if needed. From my understanding this pen is pressurized, so maybe you can write upside down, extreme weather conditions, that vacation trip we take to the moon now and then.

The dredging corkscrew most people complain about. It opens wine just fine. I have thought why would most saks come with a corkscrew. My reasoning is you can get more multi uses out of it than a philips driver like a few models come with. Approximately, 95% of saks come with a philips tip on the end of the can opener anyways. Let see, you can use corkscrew to pick things, clean under your finger nail, help loosen knots, screw into something light for easy carry, screw into wall just to say you hung up your coat with your awesome sak, and the list goes on. With all that said, I like to call it the multi corkscrew. Make sense?

Oh my gosh, The famous disappointing multi hook. Absolutely love it! I've heard it was specifically for parcels. Well that era may be over now, here in the U.S. anyways. You will use this more than you think you will. I really like using it to carry those plastic shopping bags that hurt your fingers. Ouch! Comes in handy to unscrew/screw those ceiling hooks, grab that wire inside small hole in wall, fish your eye glasses out from the toilet when dropped (lol), and etc. Oh yeah, that file on back of hook. I've used on my finger nail a time or two and to file that pesky little stubby rough skin on tip of thumb.

The keychain ring with an s biner will open a whole new meaning of how to carry this bad boy from pant loop, messenger bag, back pack, purse, waders and what ever else you can think of. Easy to attach/remove from one place to another. Or you may pocket carry, I'm a front pocket snob. I don't like most things in my front pockets. I like almost 0 bulk, besides my front pockets carry my money clip and a handkerchief in the other pocket. The length of the multitool I find uncomfortable sitting in bottom front pocket. I find back pocket carry more comfortable. Fits jean fob pocket just fine. You may add clip to key ring to dangle inside pocket, some like this method. I've also seen some clip mods to scales, if needed. Oh yeah, let's not forget the classic lanyard you can put on it. Sounds like a multi key ring to me. Although I no longer carry the s biner method any more, those are some options. I carry it inside a belt carry nylon cargo case with my other edc essentials. This works best for me. All these tools do exactly what they're made for. I would not want to change these tools like I said I would before in my last review.

I have researched many videos and forums on saks. How to use these tools. They work well, be creative and unleash your inner Macgyver skills. Have fun. A lot of people out there have helped me to get the most out of my Victorinox. With a little elbow grease of some research on your part, you'll be on your way with a very useful multitool. Please consider this is a light multi purpose tool. You won't be rebuilding a car engine with this. I have to say the Victorinox Compact is the true meaning of edc perfection. This piece would accommodate any other heavy multitool or main knife carry. I plan on carrying this for years to come and purchasing as gifts. As in my first review, I say this masterpiece is highly recommended! Very well thought out, remember when making a product they have the general public to accommodate too. More than likely, there is a sak that best suits everyone's needs. Thank you Swiss friends for such a superb lightweight multitool and every one else who has helped me get the most of my Victorinox Compact, it's been very functional, fun and pleasant to work with! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

MY GO TO VICTORINOX UPDATE (from tower 1st review)

Dieses Tool trage ich jeden Tag bei der Arbeit. Besonders schätze ich den kleinen Kuli, der immer dann herhalten muss, wenn sonst kein Stift zur Hand ist - und das ist oft der Fall!!! Die Schere könnte eine etwas stärkere Feder haben, ist aber als Notbehelf recht brauchbar.
Die kompakte Bauform des Messers trägt unter der Kleidung nicht auf und kann auch im Anzug bequem und unauffällig untergebracht werden.

Mein täglicher Favorit beim Job

I have a victorinox evolution s16, ambassador, classic sd, and other multi tools from big branded competitors . The victorinox compact is my EDC (every day carry) of choice. I wish it had a PHILIPS instead of corkscrew and a RETAIL PACKAGE OPENER or awl instead of multi hook. Other than that, It is highly recommended. It weighs 2.25 ounces I believe. I use this bad boy at least once a day.

My go to victorinox

I just bought the Compact a few days ago because I need 2 layers SAK with scissor to pair with a plier based multitool. Scissor is my frequently used tool on SAK.

I found the Compact is pretty basic and cover the most of urban life needs. The combo tool works great, it opens cap better than the cap opener on my Deluxe Tinker.

By the way I prefer the phillip screwdriver than the corkscrew and an awl than the hook for the backside tool.

Compact! Just like the name!

I bought this knife over 20 years ago and it holds a lot of great memories. When I broke the tip of the main blade, I was resigned to the fact that I would need to buy a new one. After getting in touch with the local dealer here in Australia, I was overjoyed to discover that they will repair it for me for free.

In the disposable age that we are in, it is great to know that some companies still value the emotional attachment that objects like these can have, and that a lifetime warranty is exactly that.

This knife suits me very well. It is compact enough to take everywhere and has pretty much all the functions I need. I certainly make more use of the corkscrew that I would a Phillips head screwdriver :-)

Great knife which has lasted forever

I would only recommend this knife for light users only as it cannot do as many jobs like the Spartan, Tinker or Climber, but if you don't drink wine or beer and need a bigger nailfile better get an SD Classic.
Main reason why i never used it since i bought it is the combo tool, its way too thin for prying jobs and quite useless as a can opener since its blunt.
Other reason is the fact that there is no tool for phillips screws, which are very common and used almost on anything.
It is a good compact two layer knife with scissors for very basic tasks and it has a pen too, that i would love to have on all Victorinoxes.
The nailfile on the back of the hook is a great idea and again i would love to have it on other models too.
On the end my girlfriend used it for a while until she realized that the Classic SignatureLite suits her a lot more since its even more compact.
In summary, instead of this knife i would rather have a Climber with included micro screwdriver, stainless pin, ballpoint pen and the nailfile on the hook as with only one layer more i would get a lot more functionality.
Sorry Victorinox ,but this is the 1st and only model with which i am not very happy and it is quite expensive for what it can do.
It would be much better off as a 84mm range knife instead 91mm as this is basically only a office tool it could be even more compact

Toujours dans ma poche, prêt à servir !

Le "Compact" porte son nom à merveille et c'est pour cela qu'on l'aime : il se fait oublier grâce à sa faible épaisseur tout en proposant l'essentiel des outils courants.

Toutes les fonctions m'ont été utiles à un moment donné (même le crochet qui parait toujours incongru), avec mention spéciale pour la lame très tranchante qui me sert à manger tous les jours au boulot et le ciseau qui coupe parfaitement. Celui-ci malgré sa petite taille permet de découper de façon nette et précise tout un tas de choses, des ongles aux cartons en passant par les fils de tissu, du papier ...

A noter que le combo décapsuleur / ouvre-boites marche très bien pour les 2 usages. Additionné avec le tire-bouchon vous êtes le roi de l'apéro improvisé !

Et la cerise sur le gâteau : le stylo. HYPER pratique de l'avoir toujours sur soi pour prendre des notes, rayer la liste des courses etc.

Pourquoi pas lui donner 5 étoiles alors ?
Il lui manque UN SEUL outil pour qu'il atteigne la perfection : un tournevis "phillips". De préférence en bout, comme sur le modèle Explorer : plus pratique à utiliser qu'au milieu à la place du tire-bouchon.

Ceux qui cherchent comme moi à retrouver la configuration et le petit encombrement du "Compact", avec en plus le tournevis cruciforme ont peu de choix : il y a l' "Explorer plus" et le "Huntsman Lite".
Mais l'un comme l'autre font déjà 1 cm de plus en largeur ...

Le couteaux pour tous les jours presque parfait

This knife is a wonderfully designed, incredibly functional tool. Having only 2 tool layers, it kicks in a wonderful 14 functions.

I will make a statement on each tool:

Blade: Victorinox quality. I do not think it is ***RAZOR SHARP*** but it is really close. As handy as a knife can be, but be aware that it is not serrated and it does not lock.

Scissors: For the sharpness, it gets 5* out of 5. I managed to make a small cut on a 20-page booklet with it a little, it managed to cut without much effort. However, it probably won't hold much torque. The handle is curved slightly, giving you a good grip. Will handle all light-duty cutting jobs easily.

Combo tool: A great flathead and a wonderful can opener, but I am not sure if the wire scrapers and the can opener will work well enough. Can opener is nowhere as sharp as the seperate can opener (like the one of the Spartan) and I do not have any opinions about the wire scraper, I do not work with wire.

Corkscrew: Again, did not try this one, but it holds a mini-screwdriver, which I think will come in handy.

Hook: I heard lots of talk about how this tool is "useless" on the internet, but the truth is I found 2 great ways to use this tool:
1-Hanging a nylon grocery bag, and you will no longer hurt your fingers while carrying bags. Unfortunately, it can only hold one or two bags at a time.
2- Using it to "hold" the pen: open the hook, insert the pen into the narrow space where the hook normally stays, and close the hook on the pen, this will hold the pen in place, and voila: You can now use the whole knife as a handle to write. Do not worry, the pen won't snap.
The nailfile on the back is very narrow but usable. I also found out that aside for stopping at 90 degrees, the hook then me opened to around 120 degrees, however, this does not have a purpose.

Toothpick, tweezers and the pen are functional(the toothpick is plastic), although the pen is mostly awkward for use- it is so thin. However, one can get rid of this issue by the way mentioned above.

Note that there is a useful pin hidden underneath the corkscrew.

I have 5 Victorinox knives and this is my favorite one. If you buy it you will not be disappointed.

Nothing but excellence....

J'ai ce couteau depuis quelques années dans ma trousse et j'en suis vraiment content. Il possède des fonctions simples, essentielles, et reste compact du coup (c'est son nom d'ailleurs). En plus de tenir peu de place dans ma trousse il se manipule très facilement et rend toujours service. S'il pouvait avoir une lime à ongle en plus ce serait parfait. Son prix est un peu élevé (30€) mais c'est bien le seul reproche que j'arrive à lui trouver.

This is *almost* the perfect compact SAK.

What does it need in order to be perfect? A #2 Phillips. I'd be willing to give up the corkscrew for that, as I'm personally caught without a screwdriver much more often than without a corkscrew.

The key to the success of this knife is that it is only two layers thick, and not too long, so it is a good pocket size. Yet, at the same time, it does not give up the scissors, like many other two layer SAKs.

It is such a conundrum. Do I go with the Tinker, and have the #2 Phillips and also the can opener with the small screwdriver tip (which also makes a decent #2 phillips) or do I give both of those up for the ever-popular scissors? I guess it comes down to a personal question: "Do I drink more wine, or do I screw more screws?" For me, it is tough, because I do nearly equal amounts of both!

Victorinox should make a model called the Gentleman, which is the same as this knife, but with a #2 Phllips screwdriver on the back to replace the corkscrew.

Nearly perfect combination of tools

The Compact is sufficiently light with a suitable variety of tools, for day to day tasks, yet able to be carried in a pocket without feeling cumbersome.

I have given it full marks as it truly lives up to its name "Compact"

Pocketable all rounder

This is a knife that you always have in your pocket. I have had mine for at least 10 years. It is small and packed with the tools I need. During the last year I have experienced a couple of misses however.
1.The needle does not stay in position so when you open the screwdriver the needle gets bent.
2.The knife need to have a cross headed screwdriver
3. The spring for the scissors sometime needs to be replaced, but the new ones does not stear properly in the track on the other handle.

To reach Excellence

Only 2 layers thin, but packed with a bunch of tools that come in handy every day. Scissors, blade, corkscrew and caplifter/screwdriver, hook, tweezers, toothpick, miniscrew, pin and the ballpoint pen - the Compact is my favorite Victorinox to fit in my jeanspocket without ever feeling that I carry it with me. Even the hook turns out to be a pretty versatile tool (can even work together with the thin ballpoint and turn the knife into a full-sized easy-to-write-with pen, Google for a how-to!) , and combined with the nailfile it is well worth the springspace.

To sum it up: great compact knife for everyday (around town) carry.
