Schönes handling, gute Qualität

Ich schreibe normalerweise keine Bewertungen, weder gute noch schlechte, aber ich mache in diesem Fall, für eines der besten Unternehmen der Welt, sehr gerne eine Ausnahme. Es ist bereits mein zweites Spirit X und weil das erste nun dauerhaft im Auto meiner Frau stationiert ist, habe ich mir für den täglichen Bedarf dieses in der gleichen Ausstattung nochmal geordert. Das allein spricht schon Bände. Ich bin mit all meinen Victorinox-Produkten ungelogen sehr, sehr zufrieden und wurde auch hier wieder nicht enttäuscht. Das ist für meine Bedürfnisse das beste Multitool was ich kenne. Es ist eine top Qualität, ein durchdachtes Design und perfekt verarbeitet. Das es sowas heutzutage noch gibt ist eine wahre Wonne für meine Seele. Ich erwische mich dabei, dass ich das Spirit X schonmal aus der Tasche nehme, nur um es mal zu öffnen. Es ist ein Genuss, wie jedes Teil sauber und "smoth" läuft und verriegelt, das ist eine tolle Verarbeitungsqualität, die man fühlt und spürt. Die Aufteilung und Positionierung der Werkzeuge ist durchdacht und sehr sinnvoll. Die einzelnen Werkzeuge sind von hoher Güte und stabil. Sie kommen gut scharf und sie lassen sich sehr gut nachschärfen und scharf halten. Die Säge ist ein Traum und der Kreuzschraubendreher macht wirklich Spaß. Die Zange ist sehr handlich und funktional, die Klinge ebenso. Die stabile Schere ist richtig scharf und sehr gut zu gebrauchen. Der kernige Kapselheberschraubendreher hebelt alles was seiner Größe angemessen erscheint. Ich bin begeistert, ein Top Produkt von einem Top Unternehmen. Danke Victorinox dafür.

I have owned 5 Victorinox pocket knives over the last 42 years and they are all well made and have lasted regular use after all these years.

This is my first multi tool and the build quality and finish are excellent as usual.
Arrived in good time to the uk and on first inspection all parts have been oiled nicely and every tool “snicks” into place satisfactorily.
Everything lines up and feels good in the hand when using it.
The leather case fits perfectly.

I wish there was the option to have the knife locking or non-locking on purchase for carry in the UK as the blade is less than 3”.

All it requires is the knife blade to be made without the detent so that the locking mechanism cannot slip into it when it’s fully opened.

I could weld the detent closed but that would spoil the looks of the Spirit X which looks very classy compared to other tools I’ve used.

Well made multi tool

I own many Victorinox knives and tools. They are all amazingly well built. The Swiss Tool Spirit is my EDC and I use it frequently. The knife is extremely sharp as well as the scissors.  The file is very strong and cuts through metal like butter. The leather case has lasted 20+years and still holds the tool very securely. Well done.

20+ Years

I’ve used this tool daily on the job as an electronics technician for over 10 years. It is as close to perfect as a person could reasonably expect. It’s comfortable, extremely well-designed and built, reasonably light, and even beautiful. The locking feature of *all* the tools in the handles adds a nice dose of safety that is lacking in lesser tools. Some say that Victorinox tools are maybe a bit “softer” or more rounded than others, but I can tell you after my extensive time with heavy and sometimes hard use in a steel mill that it is remarkably durable. Nothing has failed, broken, or seized on me. I will probably sooner lose it than wear it out. It’s even easy to clean. It’s difficult to find any faults with this tool, or even ideas on how it could be improved.

The amount of tasks I can complete with this alone is impressive. It’s general-purpose, but works especially well for electrical and electronics. The notch in the wire cutter works well as an adjustable wire stripper. The scissors are excellent for cutting very small wires or strands, i.e. those in ethernet cable before crimping. The pliers can get the job done turning the odd smaller bolt (tip: cover the bolt head with a rag to avoid marring it). The awl is great for the odd poking job, for reaming out holes cut in metal, and for cutting holes by itself in plastic. The file is excellent for smoothing rough edges on metal. The fine screwdriver is perfectly sized for the small terminal screws common in electronics.  The phillips driver is sturdy, well sized for #1-#2 heads, and has excellent reach. The large screwdriver is very sturdy, provides even more torque than a typical screwdriver, and is excellent for prying. The round blade is great for scoring cable before stripping off the jacket. The chisel is great for scraping off stuff like adhesive from a surface you’re trying to clean. I’ve even used the saw to completely cut through large, multi-conductor cable, and was amazed at how well it worked for that. It also zips right through plastic.

Unless you need some specific odd tool this doesn’t have, or maybe you need more bulk, your search ends here. Especially if you’re in the electrical field.

A Masterpiece

Das Etui ist hübsch geaged.
Alle Wekzeuge, insbesondere die Zange machen einen top Eindruck.
Toll ist der Lock aller Werkzeuge > weniger Unfallgefahr .
Kein Vergleich mit anderen Produkten und doch relativ handlich.
Das habe ich gern dabei im Outdoor oder Notfall.
Druckknopf am Etui oder hier der Klettverschluss ist halt Geschmackssache

So I finally broke down and purchased this knife. Honestly I’ve always been a Leatherman fan. I have had over a dozen Leatherman models and recently sold them all when I got this Victorinox. The overall quality is years ahead of the Leatherman product line. The function of the tools and the way they come out and lock is so much better than a Leatherman. The overall fit and comfort of the plyers is also very comfortable in your hand. The finish and overall look makes this knife look really slick and impressive. All of the tools open from the outside handles and you don’t have to open up the knife to access any of the tools. If you’re looking for a multi tool don’t bother with anything else just get this one. The only thing I’m not crazy about is my fingerprints on the handles. I wipe it down whenever I put it away. Overall it’s not a dealbreaker but it could make somebody a little crazy like me that worries over how my knife looks.

Perfection for a multitool

Die Verarbeitungsqualität ist deutlich besser als die der Konkurrenz. Wenn man mit der Lupe schaut, findet man jedoch auch kleine Ungenauigkeiten. Fünf Sterne aber wegen der Auswahl der Werkzeuge und der genialen Haptik. Keine scharfen Kanten, nichts drückt oder stört. Man hat es einfach gerne in der Hand. Und es schaut super aus.

Sehr gutes Multitool

After 9 swiss army purchases I ended up with a piece of junk.
The pliers are very difficult to open and use.
The unlock requires my thumb nail and a lot of effort to close any tool that I have open.
My old leatherman charge TTI after many years is so smooth...all tools open effortlessly.
I am so disappointed....obviously I am returning this piece of junk.

My decision to purchase the Victorinox Spirit X was based on a previous purchase from a competitor that offered less features at a much higher price.

The curved handles on this fascinating multitool are the first thing that caught my attention.

The wire stripper tool along with the wire cutter on the base of the pliers work better than my dedicated wire stripper tool sitting in my toolbox.

The tool itself offers a lifetime warranty and the included leather belt pouch offers a generous 3-year warranty (far better than the competition).

Since there is no pocket clip, this multitool slides effortlessly into and out of the included leather belt pouch with such ease that I can remove/insert with one hand.

All of the included tools are first class and the Victorinox name is proudly stamped on both handles.

All of the tools are accessible without opening the pliers and feature a self-locking design for maximum durability.

The first time I unfolded this tool surprised me because it was that moment when I had realized how smooth the handles fold and unfold.

The high polished stainless steel is easy to wipe with a lint-free cloth and I applied a sealant to the leather pouch before wearing it outside.

The quality is something that can't be overstated.

Endlich! Es ist soweit. Heute kam mir mein Spirit X in die Hände geflogen!
Was sagt man dazu, das Tool ist in seinen Einzelheiten absolut stimmig. eine Präzession wie man sie gewohnt von Victorinox kennt!
Es gibt nichts an dem SwissToll auszusetzen. Ich bin sehr zufrieden & kann es wirklich nur jedem weiterempfehlen der auf der Suche nach einem kompakten, eleganten und durchdachten Tool ist.

Der Favorit unter den Messern!!

Dieses Multitool hat alles was man braucht. Das Spirit überzeugt durch hervorragende Verarbeitung und ideale Werkzeugauswahl.
Die Werkzeue sind wie bei Victorinox üblich, sehr durchdacht und weisen eine polierte Oberfläche auf. Alle Kanten sind sauber abgerundet. Dieses Multitool würde ich als das Beste bezeichnen, dass zur Zeit auf dem Markt ist. Es ist wie der grosse Bruder das Victorinox Swisstool, hervorragend ausgestattet und gleichzeitig deutlich kompakter und leichter, dazu liegt es besser in der Hand. Sollten die diversen Schraubendreher die verbaut sind nicht ausreichen kann man auf eine Variante mit zusätzlichem Bit Kit zurückgreifen.
Das Bit Kit hat den Vorteil, dass anders wie etwa bei Leatherman, wo der Bithalter im Tool integreiert ist, kein Platz im Tool verschwendet wird und dass man normale Bits verwenden kann. Ausserdem lässt es sich mit dem externen Bitschlüssel deutlich schneller und angenehmer arbeiten.

Einfach top

Carried my Spirit for years.  O, the adventures we had!  The time the lawn tractor ran downhill into the woods, only a 3" sapling stopped it... under the mower deck!  Pulled out the Spirit, a couple minutes later, the tree's cut off and we're ready to get it out of there.  The file/rasp is INTENSE and HARD, great for marking steel or other parts.  Just be careful if you use it to file your nails, that square edge will cut, never mind the file along the thin edge.  
The pliers are great, really surprising what you can get a good hold of and turn.  Also, the detent in the folding action is handy, they'll hold small part for you to solder, etc.  Scissors REALLY work, keep you looking dapper, trim your nails, took care of them and they always worked a charm.
 The screwdriver blades are sized well, the shafts are strong.  They'll get the job done, and not turn out of the slot.
All in all, a GREAT tool.  I only wish for a SCALE (ruler) engraved on the handles!  SO many times I looked/wished for that-

I just spent a weekend camping on my US Boy Scout Order of the Arrow ordeal and packed my new to me Spirit.  It worked better than I could have ever asked!  I even used the chisel to whittle an arrow from a branch for a necklace.  I think I might have found my new camping companion!

This is my favorite multitool. The fit and finish can’t be beat. You’ll never have to worry about it getting rusty. More compact and more tools than some others. Very comfortable to use.

Favorite Plier Multitool

Never purchase a different brand of multi-tool. It's simply not worth whatever savings you will get compared to a Victorinox. 

This will last a lifetime if well kept, and will save you a lot of time and stress with everyday repairs.

A Pocket Essential

Die Auswahl an Tools, die zudem alle im zusammen geklappten Zustand benutzbar sind, ist sehr gut. Die glatte Klinge ist selbst im Auslieferungszustand schon sehr scharf. Das Spirit II könnte eines der besten Multitools sein, wäre da nicht die allgemeine Verarbeitung. Bei beiden gekauften Modellen waren die Griffschalen schon im Neuzustand um ca. 2mm versetzt was für ein solches Tool nicht akzeptabel ist.

I was blessed last fall to come across one of these on a closeout rack at my local sporting goods store. I had looked into Victorinox's Multitools before, but decided not to buy one because of their high price tag. But when I saw a Swisstool Spirit for sale for $44 US I bought it in a heartbeat. Now six or so months later, after I have had a chance to use all the tools on the Spirit, I wish I would have bought it sooner. It is easy to use, has a well thought out tool set, as well as being constructed very solidly and with great fit and finish. Bottom line, if I was told right now that Victorinox was discontinuing it, I would buy two more instantly even if I had to pay MSRP.

Worth every penny

For me, this is an excellent tool, very practical, comfortable and with the exceptional quality of all products Victorinox. However, I have an observation that perhaps is a bit hard to explain textually.
One of the most frequent uses of scissors in this and all knives is to cut the nails. In the case of this tool, the two scissor blades are in position against all other Victorinox knives. When you go to cut the nails, the blade remains to be the top side of the nail is more inward, toward the hand, that the blade remains below the nail. That makes the cut more uncomfortable.
I think the blade that cuts above should be closer to the edge of the nail and the blade cut down should be toward the finger.
My suggestion is to redesign the scissors for this tool, so that it is like a mirror image of the current scissor. This is the only Victorinox knife that has the scissor blades in that position, the reverse of all others.
I hope I was able to explain well.

Ich hatte zuvor schon einige andere Multitool von anderen Herstellern, die zwar billiger waren aber von der Qualität und meiner Meinung nach auch von der Präzision der Verarbeitung dem Swisstool nicht das Wasser reichen können.
Da ich ein leidenschaftlicher Handwerker bin ist das Swisstool bei mir sehr oft im Einsatz und hat mich noch nie im stich gelassen.
Mein Fazit lautet top Qualitat zum angemessenen Preis.

Gebe es freiwillig nicht mehr weg

I've been using this tool for over 2 years now. I work in construction, demolition and as a roadie, and it has done everything very well.
Saved me a few times with some car trouble.
Tools can even be opened with one hand when wearing light to medium gloves.

The 2 negative things I could say is that the grip can become slippery due to high polish, especially if your hands get sweaty. But the tool shows no signs of rust.
Another is that sometimes it is a bit hard to figure out which side of the metal file is finer.

An excellent tool

I bought my Swiss Tool Spirit X about two years ago, and I can say is I love it. I've used it to remove sutures from my son's leg. I take it with us on all our scouting adventures, I use it also to do small minor repairs at home, and at work. No job is to big for this tool. I have always owned many different types of Swiss Army Knives, and I given many away as well. What I really like about this tool is how it feels in my hand when I'm using it and the different tools stay locked in place and that's a big plus for me. I only wish it had a ruler on it.
