With the relaunch, Victorinox extends its popular collection and offers numerous cutting and serving boards, as well as other kitchen utensils such as cooking spoons and spatulas. Developed and made from eco-friendly material also used for skateparks, the collection is sustainable, dishwasher-safe and absolutely blade-friendly. Food preparation is made easy with the trendy Victorinox kitchen gadgets: simple and smooth, the boards and utensils are made of eco-friendly paper composite emphasizing Victorinox’s commitment to sustainability. Whilst the elegant design makes for top accessories in any kitchen, all items in the collection share the functionality of the brand’s legendary Swiss Army Knife. Since 2015, Victorinox has owned a majority of the Epicurean brand to further strengthen its growing key category of cutlery. The collaboration between the two companies was a culmination of many years of mutual respect for their shared commitment to innovation, quality, and functional design. The boards and kitchen utensils come with a circular hole for easy hanging, are heat-resistant, dishwasher-safe and protect blades from becoming blunt. Depending on the model, the boards also include a practical juice groove, rubber nubs, handle, and bevel. These innovative products are available in two colors, black and brown, and the boards can also be used as a trivet or as a platter for stylish serving of cheese or canapés. The secret lies in the unique material. Paper composite has the warmth and great looks of a wood product, but is light, thin and dishwasher-safe. Furthermore, the collection is very resistant when compared with plastic or regular wooden boards and deeper cuts are reduced to a minimum. The Victorinox cutting and serving boards are therefore very hygienic, easier to keep clean and avoid any risk of microplastic finding its way into the food. The process of creating this unique material is both simple and complex. Sheets of high-quality craft paper are dipped into a food-safe resin before being cut to length and laid out by hand. Each sheet is carefully stacked, and the direction of the paper alternated, creating balance and stability. The stacks are then pressed under even heat and pressure, which bonds the layers of paper together and produces a solid, stable sheet of material. Not only is the paper composite used for the boards and kitchen utensils completely natural, but the wax care for maintaining the boards is also made of all-natural ingredients like beeswax and mineral oil. The protective wax for cutting boards keeps them in a smooth, oiled condition to ensure that they remain hard-wearing and durable kitchen companions. SUSTAINABILITY IS KEY

Sustainability is a key topic in the production of these boards and kitchen utensils. Epicurean, the Victorinox US subsidiary which produces the collection, has its roots in building custom skate parks. During the construction of half pipes and ramps, smaller pieces of high-quality fiber wood remained. Instead of throwing it away, the innovative company decided to find other ways to use the leftover material. With the idea of cutting boards in mind, they approached Victorinox and found a strong partner to further develop this inventive and sustainable concept. Not only was sustainability key to the original product idea, but partners and the supplier of the material were also very carefully selected. All of them are FSC-certified and with GREENGUARD accreditation. They also have what is essentially a closed-loop energy system with wasted resin being recaptured and used as fuel during the drying stage, minimizing their natural gas usage by 83%. Following the example set by Victorinox, Epicurean itself uses a heat reclamation system where heat from suction pumps is reclaimed and used to heat the warehouse.
