I absolutely love my Bantam Alox. It is so slim, light, and unobtrusive that you're barely aware it's in your pocket. It looks fantastic and weighs less than 30g. The combi tool is a brilliant complement to a non-threatening blade that's razor sharp out of the box. I lost my first one a few weeks ago and ordered another one straightaway!

This knife would be perfect for me with a really small size and 2 important features as a blade and bottle opener.  But there is no key ring on it? I can't understand why? Classic SD has some useless nail care devices, but not a bottle opener. So as a fact - Victorinox doesn't have a small enough knife with a bottle opener to attach to keys. It's a shame :(.

La lame est plus fine que sur d'autres couteaux de la gamme ALOX, mais il se fera totalement oublié dans une poche ou une sacoche.

Just received my Bantam. I was very excited for my first Alox SAK. It feels premium in the hand, waffer thin but not too thin, scales offer nice grip, blade is sharp as expected from Victorinox etc... however what is most dissappointing are the tolerances. There are large gaps between the scales and back spring to the point the scales are bending (ie look bent) probably caused by the incorrect spacer used on the blade. The bottle opener (brand new, never used) is also very obviously bent which when folding back into the handle doesnt actually close fully as the end sits on top of the handle, which has caused a dent in the Alox. The opener has to be pressed toward the blade for it to be seated properly. Very unlike Victorinox and obviously one that got through QC, much to my dissapointment.

At first, I was a little disappointed . Very light and very thin,  however,  once you realise that it was bought as a pocket knife, and should be light and thin and not stand out in your pocket , making people stare a the bulge, it's perfect. Sharp, light yet strong

Simple et léger

I have had one of these for years. It's perfect - small enough to keep with you all the time and forget about, really useful when you need it. Once a pipe burst when I was in a bathroom and I was able to shut the water supply off quickly using the screw driver - I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't had my knife with me. When closed it's a lovely tactile shape and size and the textured alox feels great. It's a fascinating fidget toy - an important extra function for something you carry with you all the time!

Perfect

If you want a lightweight pocket knife for urban use, you can't go far wrong with the Bantam. It's incredibly light, strong and feels good to use, with the best-in-class Alox scales. 

You may be weighing this up against the Cadet. The Bantam is lighter, just one layer thick, having a multi-tool to cover most jobs, like opening bottles and turning screws. The question is whether you want these features split over two tools, plus the nail file. 

My only minor gripe is that the blade and tool are very close together, so every now and again they catch. It's not a problem, just a minor imperfection. Otherwise, it's a great little knife for everyday use.

Das Material der Griffschale fühlt sich sehr griffig und hochwertig an. Das Taschenmesser ist schön leicht und handlich. Für meine Bedürfnisse ist alles dabei was ich brauche. Mir gefällt das Taschenmesser sehr gut und ich bin sehr zufrieden mit meinem Kauf.

Die zwei wichtigsten Funktionen - Schneiden und Hebeln - stabil und elegant und dennoch erstaunlich leicht und schlank vereint, das macht das Bantam Alox zu meinem neuen Lieblingstaschenmesser und Alltagsbegleiter. Bei diesem tatsächlich in der Tasche tragbaren Modell haben die Designer zu Recht auf den Befestigungsring verzichtet.

Das "wahre" Taschenmesser

Excellent couteau très plat, léger, esthétique et qui se fait oublier dans une poche. J'apprécie particulièrement le tournevis plat qui peut aussi visser une vis cruciforme.

The Bantom Alox might be the perfect gentleman's pocket knife. The 84mm size makes it easy to conceal in slacks or suit coat pocket. It is thin but not flimsy in any way. It is a beautifully crafted SAK in almost every way, and the cost is affordable for everyone. Highly recommended!

Small, elegant it snuggly disappears even into a wallet. Quality as one is used to from Victorinox is top notch. A lightweight  companion one doesn’t notice carrying along. Perfect.

Eins vorweg: Vielleicht bin ich als Fan von Schweizer Messern etwas befangen in meiner Beurteilung, aber das ergibt sich ja schliesslich aufgrund meiner ausschließlich positiven Erfahrungen mit den Messern von meiner Kindheit bis heute.

Ich beziehe mich in meiner Bewertung auf das Modell Bantam mit Aloxgriffschalen.

Ein Taschenmesser ist auch heute noch wertvoll im Alltag, selbst in unserer heutigen hochtechnisierten Gesellschaft. Die Fähigkeit ein Packetband durch zu trennen, ein Brötchen zu schneiden oder Plastikverpackungen zu öffnen ist auch heute noch etwas, bei dem ein Messer unabdingbar ist. Und wenn man immer unterwegs ist, wird ein solides Werkzeug das man immer bei sich hat besonders wichtig. Das beste Werkzeug ist dasjenige, welches man auch dabei hat, sagt man.

Daher ist für mich das Bantam Alox das perfekteste Taschenmesser das man haben kann. Durch seine grösse von 84mm ist es besser für die Hosentasche geeigent als die 91mm Modelle und die grösse erlaubt es einem trotzdem es als Ersatzessbesteck zu nutzen. Da es Aloxgriffschalen hat, besitzt es ein sehr flaches Profil. Ich trage es immer in meiner Gesäßtasche und muss in der Universität auf harten Holzstühlen sitzen. Trotzdem bemerke ich es nicht, ausser wenn ich es brauche. Dann weiss ich, dass ich mich darauf verlassen kann.

Die Klinge aus rostfreiem Stahl ist vielleicht nicht so scharf zu bekommen wie Kohlenstoffstahl, den man auf rasiermesserschäfe bekommen kann aber der Stahl ist unglaublich rostresistent und hält seine Schärfe sehr viel länger als der Kohlenstoffstahl. Sie ist pflegeleicht und wartungsarm und hält gefühlt eine Ewigkeit.

Die Komboklinge ist etwas, was dieses Messer anderen traditionelleren Klappmessern überlegen macht. Es dient mir sowohl zum Öffnen von Flaschen, als auch Dosen (zugegeben eher selten). Am nützlichsten ist es aber als Hebel. Man kann es wie einen sehr stabilen Fingernagel benutzen, in dieser Funktion sind die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten nur durch die eigenen Fantasie begrenzt: zum Entnehmen von Handyakkus, dem Lösen von Knoten, Aufhebeln von Gehäusen, Aufschrauben von Batteriedeckeln. Wenn man es bei sich hat, erschießen sich die Anwendungen bei Bedarf von selbst.

Und zu guter letzt: über die Qualität von Victorinoxklappmessern ist nicht mehr viel zu sagen, sich ist bekannt, über jeden Zweifen erhaben und der Messerkonkurrenz aus Frankreich, Deutschland, USA, Japan und China in der Verarbeitung, dem Material und dem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis weit überlegen.

Für mich: das perfekte Taschenmesser

I bought a Bantam a pair of month, for my travel to Ecuador, as I didn't want to bring my other saks.

I used a shoelace to wear it around my neck. I alway had it with me and it has been very useful during all my trip.

Compact, very revelant basic features and a major feature : The multipurpose blade that has more utility than it's documented purposes : It helped me to change electrical plugs and to repair electrical devices, *to repair a bucket handle using the multipurpose blade as a punch/reamer*, of course to open local beers and 'jurel' cans, etcaetera and so on !..

To me, the best one layer victorinox knife ever.

It would be even better with some extra features :
-Nailfile on the multipurpose blade surface
-Ballpen and needle compartments in the scales
-Double headed (philips and standard) screwdriver in the corkscrew

Very good

I had this knife for 2 weeks. Knife features are really good, I think even better than Recruit or Cadet because of that multipurpose tool. But front handle went loose. I tried to fix it by myself, but I only damaged it. So I don't know what to do, because of guarantee policy. I should send it right away. This knife cost me 10$, shipping to factory probably more. It's cheaper to buy new one.
