Pretty much the perfect knife with no compromises (except for being mean and leaving out the mini screwdriver!)

I have swapped my scales for classic red and put the New York scales on my custom build ‘Field Companion’ (Fieldmaster with package opener and nail file)

Excellent knife with very useful combination of features; superb quality and functionality. However, the colours are not the same as the ones shown in the webpage. The colour gradient is not as smooth and it does not have as many colours as the images. I was quite disappointed when I received it because I chose the Sydney model due to the colour design.

Almost perfect pocket knife.
My only very minor suggestions would be: With plus scales and at this price why not include the pin and mini screwdriver and I would prefer the nail file to have the file on the outside edge, if possible.
However still 5 stars.

Excellent

I love the new package opener and file. I have been wanting a file on a toolset like the Super Tinker for a long time and I love package openers, since they make opening plastic clam shell packaging a breeze and this is no different. It saves your main knife as well. The saw part of the package opener works ok. The file, at 1st I thought it wouldn't work good but it definitely works great. It must be diamond coated because it files your nails and plastic bits fast, even though it isn't a rough file. I don't know much about files but it works great. The package opener can still be used as a 2D phillips, which I was curious about since it has the package opener blade, but I tried it and the blade part stays out of the phillips screws I tried it on. It's brilliant how they made it. I just really hope this comes out with regular scales as well. I really wanted it, so I ordered it. I can change the scales out later, if the scales don't appeal to me. Alot of women like it, which I have a feeling 1 of the women in my life with steal it from me and I will probably have to order another. Since this is supposed to be for women, my suggestion is to put solid color scales on it and make them pink, blue and maybe purple color scales on it. This way guys and women would have they're pick of colors and you can still market it to women. Even having a classic red scales as a 4th option would be a easy option. My favorite color is green, so it would be awesome to see green scales as well. Thank you for finally making my dream set of tools on a Victorinox knife.

Awesome new tool and file

Find one wherever you can!  This has to be the best 3-layer SAK ever made.  I love my Compact and never thought I would find another SAK that I like more, but the Companion just blows me away.  I love that there's a nail file, instead of the small blade and in place of the nearly useless can opener is a very practical package opener.  In addition, you get the somewhat rare Plus scales, which means you'll get the ballpoint pen and the straight pin slot.  I used to think that 3-layers was a little too bulky for my pocket, but not anymore.  Not when you get all of the desired, fundamental, necessary tools.

Ich sammle Victorinox Taschenmesser.
Doch dieses ist für mich das beste Messer und immer dabei. 
Die Werkzeuge sind perfekt für den Alltag. Der Paketöffner einfach ein Traum. Man muss nicht ständig mit der Klinge die Pakete öffnen und schont diese dadurch sehr. Der Paketöffner eignet sich auch hervorragend zum Öffnen von Plastiktüten. 
Die Tools sind einfach perfekt zusammengestellt für den täglichen Gebrauch. Schere und Nagelfeile für die Maniküre zwischendurch. Zahnstocher, Messer, Kugelschreiber, Pinzette und Schraubendreher sind ebenso brauchbare Helfer im Alltag. 
Doch das Beste sind die neuen Schalen. Ich habe das Messer direkt bei Markteinführung gekauft und trage es seither täglich bei mir. Teilweise sogar direkt in der selben Tasche wie meinen Schlüsselbund. Dennoch sehen die Schalen aus wie neu. Sie verkratzen einfach nicht und somit bleibt das Messer optisch auch sehr lange schön. Wirklich toll und würde ich mir generell bei den anderen Schalen auch wünschen.

Great Pocket Knife

The picture in the store suggests that the orange and lila colors extend to the edge of the scales.
This is false advertising, they do not! There is an ugly turquoise edge all around the scales. Since this is a designer model, this really bothers me.
I think Victorinox needs to provide an accurate all around view of their products on the web store. Now.
Otherwise the product lives up to Victorinox' impeccable quality standards and the new box opener tool is indeed very functional.

First, I have to get this out of the way, if you want this, or you want to give it as a gift to someone, buy it. Whoever is getting this is going to be happy with it. I bought it for me, I use it every day, and I'm very happy with it.

All three of the designs are beautiful, and I had trouble choosing. I ended up going with the pink and blue Paris style, everyone has told me they find it very pretty and they love the lanyard attachment. It's good for pulling out of a purse or a jacket pocket.

The tools on here are perfect without bulking up the size. I'd say it's closest to the Climber, with the main differences being that it has a package opener instead of a can opener, a nail file instead of a second smaller knife blade, and includes a pen. It does not include a pin, but does have a slot for it. Not a deal breaker, I just threw in a sewing pin from a kit I had.

All of the tools on here work just as you'd expect from Victorinox, which is to say the quality is excellent. The new tool, the package opener, actually works very well despite its strange appearance, and still can function as a phillips screwdriver. It does not function as a can opener, so don't count on it for a camping trip. Maybe Victorinox could consider replacing the bottle opener with the combo tool in the future, but I think most people are perfectly fine with the omission.

This is a very well thought out product with a stylish design that isn't just throwing pink scales on it and calling it a day. It is more on the pricey side, but it's also a more premium product. I think this is the best value you can get out of a knife this size.

Compagnon Sydney Style

For years I’ve rotated between the Sportsman and the Compact. I’ve always said that the perfect Victorinox for me would be a combination of both those models, a 91mm Sportsman with scissors and pen. Well that dream finally happened with the Companion. Plus it has the new awesome box opening tool which is more useful for EDC than a can opener. I love this model.
